Based upon an idea from Jim Steinmayer, Human Slot Machine is a fun, easy to perform comedy act that’s easy to do and is in short, a human slot machine with 3 spectators!

The effect is as follows. You invite three spectators to join you as you place a prediction down in full view. You then show three notepads and flick through the pages to show they have the usual slot machines drawings on each page, such as the cherries, three bars, bananas etc. Attached to each pad is a length of cord that enables you to hand each pad around the neck of each spectator. Asking the end spectator to raise his arm to act as the ‘bandit arm’, you instruct your spectators that when you pull the arm down, they are to reach to their pads and open at any page.

When you pull the arm down, spectator 1 opens his pad to show for example the three bars. Spectator 2 opens his pad and also shows the 3 bars – looking good so far. However, when spectator 3 opens his pad, it’s not a match and he opens at the cherries. All seems lost, but when you return to your prediction that’s been on full view and remove what’s inside, you show a prediction that matches the outcome exactly!
