Description Over a billion people speak Chinese. The two most common dialects are Mandarin and Cantonese. They are not mutually intelligible. Chinese is the official language in mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore. Mandarin is used in most Chinese schools and most television programs, films and radio stations throughout the country, even in Guangzhou (formerly Canton) where people speak Cantonese in their daily lives. Mandarin is one of the five official languages of the United Nations. Chinese (Mandarin) Phase 4, Units 1-30 is a new 30-unit course designed to be completed after Mandarin Phase 3. Thirty 30-minute lessons, for a total of 15 hours of Mandarin conversational study, plus one hour of cultural notes. included in the price. These notes are intended to give you a deeper understanding of Chinese culture as well as expand on the topics discussed in the course. Stage 4 builds on knowledge in joys, and Mandarin stages 1-3. You will speak and understand Mandarin almost fluently and with a wide range of conversational skills. In phase 4, pace and conversation progresses at a faster pace, accelerating familiarity with new vocabulary and structures and moving closer to native speed and comprehension. You will learn to talk about your professional and personal life, needs, likes and dislikes and create complex sentences.
