Simply put, a subscriber asked me this question recently. I started and stopped my response to them no less than five times.
It puzzled me. It is a great question. I am very grateful that you have also asked it. I often forget how much I struggled when I started.
We tend to complicate things in our minds to the point of freezing. We believe that we need to create our product. We need additional sales. We need negative sales.
Complicated and automated funnels with automated emails. Massive advertising budgets, split testing, and tracking software.
And the list goes on and on …
However, when I was asked this question last week, it made me stop and think about all that junk I mentioned earlier.
If I had nothing … cleaned of everything … and let’s say my goal was to build a $ 10k / mo business as fast as possible …
I wouldn’t use anything complicated
No funnel software, no split test software, no tracking software.
I would not waste time creating my own products, without additional sales, without negative sales.
Instead, I would focus 100% of my time, energy and any money I had … on ONE thing.
An email list. It is the only “sure thing” that I can trust as a seller. I would urge you to adopt the same belief.
This is why:
We could all wake up tomorrow with a news report on Facebook shutting down its advertising platform. Maybe Google will follow it a week later.
Laws may be passed that prohibit paid advertising of any kind online. (It’s unlikely, I know, but hey, it could happen.)
The only “insurance” is the assets you own. Those cannot be taken from you and cannot be governed (for the most part).
Your email list? That’s yours. It’s yours.
You put your blood, sweat and tears to build it. No one will rip it out of your hands.

Well, when I was asked what I would do if I lost everything … I eventually responded (after starting and stopping a couple of times) with what I just told you.
