Williams is the author of eleven books, mostly on stocks and commodity trading. Other books include The Myth of Mount Sinai, based on an archaeological search for the mount. Sinai in Egypt. This book appeared in Vanity Fair in a Howard Blum rewrite. [4]

Williams was twice the Republican Party candidate for the United States Senate in Montana, losing to Representative Max Baucus in 1978 [14] and to incumbent Senator John Melcher in 1982. He sponsored Initiative 86, which made Montana the first state to index fiscal tranches for inflation [15] Williams was one of the founders of the “Rock and Roll Marathons” that have raised more than $ 170 million for charities worldwide.
