The DVD is divided into 3 parts. Film, Techniques and bonus section.
The movie section is really cool, it’s more of a Biography/Documentary. It starts with Dean talking about MMA background and submissions and then he continues to give his accomplishments. (Very impressive!) Then get to watch Dean do some pad work with an instructor in Holland. It’s fun to watch Coach Dean pop his head when his hands are down! Then he teaches a big seminar in Sweden with some exercises I’m going to steal and then he talks about travel and successfully competes in a presentation event in Germany. The movie section is fun and an enjoyable variant of all the standard “How-to” instructionals that are on the market.
In the technical section, Dean covers the Triangle, Long Range Kimura, “DLR” Guard, a legal knee bar and the footlock.
Dean’s style of teaching is great, I felt like I was in a one on one lesson with Dean. He talks about concepts as well as technique, which really lets you understand his game. With each technique I’ve picked something new to try and I can’t wait to try them out in the gym.
The Bonus section has Dean discussing the Gi/No Gi controversy and footage of an interview he did in Germany. The bonus section ends with a discussion of what it takes to be a world champion.
