Jerry Sadowitz – Card Tricks Made Easy
Description I saw the link to this video when I read Jerry’s profile on the comedy site. The VHS version is quite expensive, around £ 25 I think, but someone posted a link for the DVD version and it was so cheap I bought it. Before the overview, here is a list of chapters: Magic Breath Slap Trick Return Map 5/3 personality Humvee Trick Shuffle (Technique) Cascade (performed by Mark Lawrence) Think about a map Piano Trick Circus Map Poker Players Picnic Sandwich Trick Point to the map Eight Card Trick color separation Sensitive Fingertips Poker Chip Chameleon Map (played by Mark Lawrence) It was filmed in 1995, so there is nothing unusual on this DVD. Two main menus and that’s it. This is a DVD for beginners in card magic. This would be a good buy if you’re just starting out and want to learn a few simple tricks that require almost no manual dexterity. Jerry Sadovitz is very presentable here … not a single curse in sight. When he talks about magic, his character is very different from his stage image. He tells the viewer about some of his favorite books on magic, including King’s Road, which was apparently his first purchase. There are a few tricks that are just execution. These are Casacde and The Chameleon Card, both performed by Mark Lawrence. Jerry also discusses the basics of Riffle shuffling here, and this app comes in a few tricks. Everything else is elementary things. Card tricks are performed by Jerry to one person, then he goes through a step-by-step technique for the trick afterwards. This is very clear and well explained, so I don’t think anyone will have a problem chasing him. Overall: 3 out of 5 A good DVD for a beginner. There are some good beginner tricks here, including the piano trick my grandfather showed me when I was a young plucker. Definitely not for the more seasoned enthusiast.
