Description
Richard Wayne Bandler (born February 24, 1950) is an American self – help writer and coach. He is best known as the co-creator (with John Grinder) of the pseudoscience of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), a methodology for understanding and changing patterns of human behavior. He also developed other systems called Design Human Engineering (DHE) and Neuro Hypnotic Repatterning (NHR).
Bandler was born in Teaneck, New Jersey, where he spent the first five years of his life before moving to California and other places where his parents moved. After his parents separated, he moved in with his mother and lived mostly in and around San Francisco.[1] Bandler received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1973 and a master’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Lone Mountain College in San Francisco in 1975.]
Bandler helped Robert Spitzer edit The Gestalt Approach (1973) is based on a manuscript by the Gestalt therapist Fritz Perls (who died in 1970). He also helped verify transcripts for Eye Witness to Therapy (1973).[3] According to Spitzer, “[Bandler] came out of that conversation and acted like Fritz Perls.”]
As a student at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC), Bandler also led a Gestalt therapy group. John grinder, a Professor at the University, said to Bandler that he could explain almost all of the questions and comments Bandler using transformational grammar. Grinder majored in linguistics. Together, they created a so-called group for training psychotherapists. The focus of this three-hour weekly group was the use of language as an agent of change. Later they concentrated on the use of language to understand and use “representational systems”. Their training and coaching of students led to the development of a model designed for therapy, and this model was called the Metamodel. This was the basis for their first book, The Structure of Magic (1975).
Bandler rented out the apartment to Gregory Bateson. Bateson taught at the University of California at Kresge College, as did Grinder, and moved to a community on Alba Road near the community of Ben Lomond in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Bateson had a profound influence on Bandler’s future, introducing him and Grinder to Milton Erickson. Together, Bandler, Grinder, and Erickson formed some of the fundamental models of neuro-linguistic programming.In 1975, Bandler founded his own company, Meta Publications, and published Patterns of Milton H. Hypnotic Techniques. Erickson, volume I (1975).
Bandler and Grinder moved on to the author The Structure of Magic Volume II (1976), Patterns of Hypnotic Techniques by Milton H. Erickson’s Volume II (1977) and Change with Families (1976), the latter of which was co-written with Virginia Satir.
Bandler studied Moshe Feldenkrais, an Israeli physicist, martial artist, and founder of the Feldenkrais School of Bodywork, and published Feldenkrais ‘ book The Elusive Obvious. Bandler’s classes included elements of bodywork, which he learned from Feldenkrais.[edit]
Since then, Bandler’s career has focused on developing and presenting NLP and related concepts as an author, publisher, speaker, and consultant. The audience includes people seeking to improve their lives, and companies using these concepts and techniques seeking to improve their sales.

So what is NLP?
NLP stands for neuro-linguistic programming. Neuro refers to your neurology;
Linguistics refers to language; programming refers to how this neural language functions.
In other words, learning NLP is like learning the language of your own mind!
NLP is the study of excellent communication with both yourself and others.
It was developed by simulating excellent communicators and therapists who got results with their clients.
NLP is a set of tools and techniques, but it’s much more than that.
It is the attitude and methodology of knowing how to achieve your goals and get results
