Description
In these volumes Master Hugo Duarte presents wrestling techniques
Luta Livre is a complete martial art system, which was developed in Rio de Janeiro. It is first and foremost a style of submission grappling where competitors use joint locks and chokes to subdue the opponent. The stand up wrestling component, which includes punches and kicks as well as elbows and knees, was developed to complete the art.
Sport wrestling is the competition version. It is easier to describe as “No-Gi submission grappling”. In sports wrestling competitions, only grappling techniques are allowed to subdue the opponent. For this type of competition, it is important to strategize and smoothly execute the moves.
Luta livre vale-tudo is a version of wrestling that is very similar to wrestling. In addition to the wrestling grappling component, professionals can also perform punches, kicks, knees and elbows. These components are used to make the transition to the ground (takedowns), as in MMA. Free-for-all wrestling is probably one of the most similar martial arts compared to current MMA.
