Coming Home Through Myth with Luisah Teish
Description Ecomythology is an academic discipline that shows us how to rewrite our cultural myths. However, the truth is that this is not just an abstract thing, it is also a very personal journey of transformation, healing and awakening. Each of us lives within a too limited story – one based on who we saw ourselves in the past, and not on who we might be in the future. This is a story in which we too often find ourselves completely alone and live in an indifferent universe. What if the caterpillar creates a vision of its possible future based only on what it has already experienced and accomplished? Will she ever dare to dream of flying as a majestic butterfly? Likewise, you already have extraordinary abilities within – sacred gifts that can open up entirely new possibilities for a radiant life of love, artistry, and greater contributions to Mother Earth and our common future. However, their realization means the transformation of your myths – your conscious and subconscious stories, most of which are programmed by family and culture. Our minds are programmed to create stories from what we see, which is why we love them so much. We are story-generating machines that transform life’s data into coherent narratives that help us make sense of our experiences and navigate the world. The problem arises when the myth that your subconscious creates – which is pretty much what you inherited from society – keeps you from the next stage of your evolution (and also contributes to the next stage of our collective evolution). These myths deeply affect your relationship with the natural world, your community and, in fact, the well-being of our entire culture. Thus, when you learn to shift your myth at the root level, you are also shifting the broader context in which you live. Too often in our personal growth work, we only focus on superficial levels of consciousness, trying to change our beliefs, heal our emotions, or think more positively. True transformation means the actual journey of the hero (or heroine) into the deeper symbols of your psyche and emergence with a new story of your life and beyond. LEARN TO RELEASE YOUR OLD PERSONALITY TO RESTORE YOURSELF History and myth can play an important role in rewriting your life, preparing you for new opportunities and changing your relationship with the natural world. They set the script for the drama of your life. If you stick with the old version, you will keep getting the old results. As you gain a deeper understanding of the stories that have shaped your life and our world, you will have more freedom to cast off your old forms and identities – and enter the unknown without shackles. You can restore parts of yourself that have been cut, wounded, or thrown. And you can see yourself much more beautiful. And when you learn from Teish how to let go of the past and create new storylines for your life, you can dissolve the illusory veils that may be preventing you from experiencing true connection with everything that is sacred – including Mother Nature, the hearts of those who is in your community and spirit. Teix is one of the greatest modern storytelling geniuses who knows how to truly develop their personal stories to bring more freedom, creativity, and meaning. During this fun and transformative 8-module program, you will learn to cast aside negative cultural myths and open up to more inspiring myths. WHAT YOU WILL DISCOVER IN THESE 8 MODULES Each learning, activation, and training will build on the next, so you will develop a more multidimensional understanding of the practices, tools, and principles you will need to transform yourself and your relationship with nature and enter a new opportunity through history. This course is designed to bring us back to the beauty and joys of earthly life in the human community. We will study folklore and explore myths, thoughts and actions that have influenced your attitude to yourself and the world around you. You will experience a basic class ritual that will be performed throughout all 8 modules. This will include the creation of an altar of the Earth and the art of visualization, singing, blessing and gratitude for the gifts of nature and honoring those who served the earth. You will acquire important skills that can be used in a variety of ways. Storytelling is a time-honored way of teaching family values; rewriting myth enhances critical thinking, and creating art using recycled materials can inspire community projects. Module 1: HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS Where are you at home now? This session discusses the Eco-spiritual beliefs of ancient people with an emphasis on the importance of a balanced relationship with nature in village life. You will receive an overview of conditions on Earth and in the human community. We will also look at conditions in the ocean, forest, farm, and inner city environment. In addition, with the help of visualization, you explore a range of landscapes, including forest, desert, mountains and open field – and you will be asked to feel each of them and identify the place where you feel most “at home.” In this module, you will: Identify your place of power in nature, as well as your main environmental issues and factors affecting your community. Get a guide to explore your individual and collective relationships with the natural world and all of its sacred inhabitants. Find powerful ways to hold on to the many ways of knowing — through body, mind, and spirit. Get insightful insights into community engagement, service, and leadership. Leave a session with homework: Cleaning your home where you are invited to take a walk in your area, do something small that will enhance or recognize the spirit of the place, and then write about the experience. Module 2: PARADISE AND WILD NATURE:
This module provides an overview of our areas of focus: climate change, water quality and access to water, land use, global food security, species extinction, and human culture. We will discuss some of the misconceptions about these issues, examine the sources of the correct information, and select three interrelated subjects to work with (at least one of them must be influenced by human culture). Our visualization for this session will be a desert walk. The environment is littered with rubbish, water is polluted, animals are devastated, and people are starving, depressed and alienated. You will be asked to feel this devastation and to endure the pain this condition can cause. In this module, you will learn: A way of dealing with different problems and considering strategies to meet personal, community and global needs with empathy and efficiency. Provide information, encourage reflection and inspire future action. Log out of the session with your homework: Honoring the Stewards of the Earth, in which you will review the homework of Module 3, as well as through the Internet, the library and conversations with neighbors and classmates, identify individuals and groups who are or have been the stewards of the natural world. You will conclude this exercise by meditating on their attitudes, skills, and lifestyle to recognize the similarities between you and them. Module 5: ECOLOGY AND ME This module explores the ways in which we use our imaginations – our most natural resource. We will discuss the lives and paths of earth stewards, which were previously discussed in module 4. And we will explore the power of storytelling as a means of connecting people with the environment and reimagining our old stories to create new ones. We’ll also take another walk through the Wasteland, but this time you’ll have the opportunity to stop, explore, and act on these conditions just by touching them. What happens when your energy is applied to a situation? During this module, you will: Engage in powerful exercises to overcome environmental depression. Find creative ways to energize your imagination. Experience insightful approaches to exploring the main components of stories. Leave a session with homework: Research on recyclable materials, in which you will be asked to look at the materials around you and start thinking about new ways to use them. (Opportunities may include fabric painting or other fiber art.) Module 6: HOME TOOL In this module, you will learn to write, speak, paint and use any creative process to transform your life story and the nature of your relationship, creating new life myths (or stories) and art. With the help of visualization, you will walk through the wasteland and see how it changes simply from your touch. You will listen to the sounds of nature and perceive the landmarks as they appear in your vision, paying close attention to how it changes your senses. In this module, you will: Develop your oral and written communication skills. Develop a style of storytelling and storytelling that emphasizes the “mysteries of creation.” Leave a session with homework: Experience Imagenesis, where you sit at your altar, imagine a better world, start a story and / or art project – and feel the power in it. Module 7: COMING HOME Again, using visualization, we’ll walk through the landscape, which has now been enhanced with the creative work done in the last module. What does this new environment look like? You will also receive additional instructions on writing and speaking, using recycled materials, and sharing ideas. During this module, you will learn how to: Develop your oral and written communication skills. Actively participate in the healing of the earth by producing multimedia artwork using recycled materials. Module 8: HOME LEARNING
During this final session of the course, we will focus on sharing myths and art in the community. Together we will make a visualization in which we will walk through the forest, garden and village. We will interact with the environment and the people who are now healed by our actions. We will also talk about what we experienced during this exercise, as well as any other areas of interest from the coursework. During this module, you will learn to: Appreciate and teach the empathy, compassion, and understanding that can come from building community and working together to bridge differences. Online NLP Course So what is NLP? NLP stands for Neurolinguistic Programming. Neuro refers to your neurology; Linguistics refers to language; Programming refers to how this neural language functions. In other words, learning NLP is like learning the language of your own mind! NLP is the study of superior communication with oneself and with other people. It was developed by simulating excellent communicators and therapists who have obtained results with their clients. NLP is a collection of tools and techniques, but there is much more to it. It is the attitude and methodology of knowing how to achieve your goals and get results.
